What do counseling appointments look like?

What you can expect: Prior to your first appointment you will be emailed consents and questionnaires to complete before you come into the session. During your first appointment, the counselor and client will complete an intake packet which will include reviewing current concerns along with physical and mental health and social areas. An important piece of this initial appointment is to begin to build a therapeutic rapport between you and the counselor. Therapeutic rapport is important for building trust and creating a counseling environment that allows you the comfort to work through vulnerable issues while building skills to achieve your personalized goals with the clinician. At the end of the first appointment, you and the counselor will identify the frequency of sessions that best meets your needs.
